Many people think that I work as a designer of the time, in pencil, then with ink, then scanned and eventually reworked on computer. I attended ESAM school in Paris, the modern art school of Paris from 1989 to 1991, at a time when everything was done by hand with ink and paint; there were computers, but it was really the beginning of computer design. At that time I was drawing all the time by hand, then after my studies and living and working for a few years the computer became an indispensable tool. Now I happen to have a lot of work together and I develop techniques to design directly with vector tools like Coreldraw X2017 with my Wacom tablet or my mouse; I can use sketches, photos or photomontage or sometimes I mix sketches with photos and I redraw all of them with vector lines because I alone account for the result and not the path to get there, because in the end for a logo, design t-shirt or a poster that always ended with a vector file or image, because the industry today is almost all digital and this is only the beginning. I could make a picture completely by hand with ink and then the scanner to make a design, but it would be too uneconomical compared to the market as we must not forget that being an illustrator is above everything a business and not a hobby, and the profitability of time is very important. Creativity, professionalism, profitability are the qualities of a good illustrator. In 2017 it is hard not to use digital; I think it's a valuable tool that has transformed the way I work. I know purists detest it but ....

David Vicente was born in 1968 in Southern France. At an early age, he developed an immeasurable passion for Rock 'n' Roll, or more specifically for Psychobilly. His first pictures were inspired by bands, such as The Meteors, The Cramps, Guanabatz, Batmobile, and his personal favorite cult album , "Rockabilly Psychosis". He was especially moved by the graphics. So he began his career by drawing monsters and other characters that were all rebels in their own way. In cooperation with well-known fashion agencies, magazines and photographers, he draws pin-ups, devils, American cars, motorcycles, posters, logos, skateboards and more. He develops his unique style by studying thoroughly all the tendencies of a rich and fruitful culture out of the common run, including surf, hot-rod, tattoo, tiki, etc. Boiling together movements in constant transformation whose roadways cross and mix endlessly.  He fell into the rock ’n’ roll culture to do custom designs!
